The title and theme bring to mind Joseph Campbell's "Hero with a thousand faces". This song is about my journey toward enlightenment. It is about the inner journey we must take to become enlightened. We must become our own hero.
The chorus is a statement of how each person's journey is unique. I can not tell you what to do or how to do it. The words sound harsh; -Cause I've got nothing to tell you, And I've got nothing to say, I've got nothing but secrets, Come judgment day, Come judgment day -but in actuality this was an important spiritual lesson for me. I used to be everyone's bar tender. I didn't even know what I was talking about. One should not take up other's crosses or their hero's journey. It is better to climb your own mountain and keep to yourself than to impose your will or beliefs on others.
The song is the story of the mystic's journey. The hero was born from the shadow of a broken man -once more back to Jung's theory of the shadow and my own personal experience. From the ruins I rose. They turned their backs so fast -you are in this yourself; sometimes people from your past can be obstacles to your journey. But he did the best he could, you always knew he would -determination is the keystone of my journey.
You wish upon a star, cause you don't know who you are -I actually began looking physically to the heavens around the time of my journey to enlightenment (which I am still on) and star gazing is dear to me. Turn inside they all say, cause that's the only way, but don't ask me how -all the sages say look inside, but even that is mysterious and until you do it, you do not really know what it means.
Sometimes the cold burns right through your soul -the Agni Fire, the blue flame of spirit; purifying and inspiring. It sets your dreams on fire, now you bristle with desire, but there's no turning back -once you desire Spirit and start down the path of enlightenment there is
no turning back.
