It doesn't feel right
It doesn't seem right anymore
where's the time gone
are you coming home

cause it's been such a very long time
since I've seen your smile
and we drank some wine
we used to be so very close
but time goes on and what went wrong
is it all gone
what went wrong
is it all gone?

  « Verse 2 »
I used to tell you
I used to whisper your name
Water these flowers
they can't wait for the rain

but when the time came
you were suddenly gone
leaving me here to carry on
but I spread my wings
and now I am on fire
burning up with pure desire
now I'm on fire
burning up with desire

  « BRIDGE »
I want to thank you for leaving
I want to thank you for goodbye
you were a great teacher back then
but I don't have those tears to cry

I still love you
We're still best of friends
It doesn't feel right
It doesn't seem right
Anymore

This is not a love song. At least not a romantic love song. This song is about a friend I use to be in band with. We made incredible music. But this guy left right when we had just got it together. We had put our blood, sweat and tears into that band. So there was a great deal of emotional energy available for this song. The song came easily and straight from the heart. The theme is that actually it all worked out for me -in that I became my own person in a musical sense. It was time for me to stop playing second fiddle for other people's projects. When you're in someone else's shadow it is hard to find your own voice. His leaving was the best thing that ever happened for me. The song also is about the unresolved strangeness' of our relationship. I actually plan to see him over my vacation and we are still best of friends. But the relationship is wounded and will never be the same. It is actually a natural progression of friendship.
